Summer Dental Tips for Kids
Whether you have a child or not, you probably know a young one or teen who is thrilled for summer. Summer is a time of no school, sleeping in, longer days, playing outside, swimming, and vacationing. With all the fun, it is very easy to enjoy the carefree days of summer and loosen up on the regular routine, such as dental care. You can get swept up in the fun times and forget about brushing and flossing your teeth. We would hate for your summer fun to lead to serious problems and complications with your oral health in the fall and winter. Here are two helpful tips to ensure your young one’s teeth remain healthy:
Choose Healthy Snacks
If you have a child, teen, or young person in your life, then you know that their stomachs become bottomless during the summer. It may seem like they are constantly asking for something to eat. Be sure to have plenty of healthy snacks on hand. Healthy grab-and-go snacks can be great for your children on day trips and long car rides. Some suggestions are:
- Fresh fruit
- Carrot sticks, celery, and dip
- Nuts
- Cheese and crackers
- Yogurt
- Cheese sticks
- Lunch meat roll-ups
Brush and Floss As Usual
If you have a long night, you may be tempted to let your child fall asleep without brushing their teeth. It is important that your child brush and floss their teeth every morning and every nigh. It is especially imperative if your child is receiving orthodontic treatment. It is very easy for bacteria to build up and turn into decay.
