Replace missing teeth with implant retained dentures

When you lose a tooth, it is best to replace it in order to maintain good oral health. Missing teeth can affect your bite as well as your ability to speak and chew. Tooth loss can also negatively impact your remaining teeth causing muscle pain in your jaws and headaches. Ultimately, losing a tooth can affect the appearance of your smile. The following information explains the process of replacing missing teeth with an implant retained denture.

While many patients have no issues with wearing an upper denture, some people find it more difficult to wear and eat with lower dentures. There are several implant-supported replacement options available if you are missing all of your lower teeth.

Bar Retained Denture

Depending on your jaw size or shape, another option involves placing four to six implants into your lower jaw. After your jaw has healed from the implant surgery, the implants are connected with a custom-made support bar. The denture is made with special internal retention clips that attach onto the support bar, and enable the denture to snap firmly into place. This appliance is called an “overdenture.” The advantage of this option over a ball attachment is that it is more stable and allows for very little denture movement. Your denture will still be removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.

Ball Retained Denture

One option for missing lower teeth is to have two implants placed in your lower jaw with a denture that is made to snap onto the implants. This option gives your lower denture more stability while chewing than you would have without implants. There will still be movement of your lower denture, however, and sore spots will occur if any food particles, especially seeds, get caught under it. With removable replacement teeth, you will need periodic appointments for a denture adjustment.

Screw Retained Denture

The third option involves placing five or more implants in your jaw and attaching a permanent denture. Your denture is held in place by screws or clasps that are secured to the support posts or bar. With this option, the denture does not touch the gum tissue so you can clean under the denture without removing it. This type of denture replaces all your missing lower teeth and is not removed except at maintenance visits. Although cleaning under your denture without removing may be more time consuming, those patients who prefer a permanent denture choose this option.

What If I’m Missing All Of My Upper Teeth?

There are a range of treatment options also available for your upper jaw. The bone is not as hard as that in the lower jaw, however, and people often need more implants to support their new replacement teeth. Depending on the number of implants that are placed, it may be possible to eliminate the need for covering the roof of your mouth with a complete denture. This will allow you to fully taste your food as well as give you a better sense of its temperature. What’s more, your denture will feel more natural. The denture will still be removable, and will make cleaning the support bar and denture much easier.

I am in my 50s and avoid dentists even though my teeth are chipped and I need work performed. I decided to try Kewaskum dental and saw Dr. Klasinski. Dr. Klasinski was so Wonderful! She explained everything in simple terms before she did anything. I have never felt more secure knowing what was going to happen next. She also included me in my care, which was the first time that has ever happened at a dentist. She asked how I felt about things as we went along.Dr. Klasinski was very efficient and I couldn’t believe I didn’t have to wait 20 minutes for the next step as my other dentist always went and worked on other patients and I just sat in a room waiting instead of having any work done, and in the long run, it just gave me more time to worry about my next step. Dr. Klasinski was incredible! I can’t say enough about how relaxed I was for the first time at a dentist. She was in the room with me almost the entire time and we got things done very quickly. From the numbing of my gum to the last part of my crown, I knew exactly what was going to happen and I felt like I had the most qualified dentist doing the work. The work she did was the highest quality and I was also very impressed at how respectful and polite she treated her staff! I heard her staff talking about what an excellent virus she is and how well she treats them! That also tells you a lot about a person and is another reason I will continue to see Dr. Klasinski. I love that she has a dog in her office because it made me feel more relaxed. I will definitely be going to regular check ups from now on and not be avoiding dentists because Dr. Klasinski Made my experience pain-free and stress-free for the first time in 50 years at a dentist. I highly recommend this dental office and Dr. Klasinski.

I highly recommend Kewaskum family dentistry and Dr. Klasinski. Dr. Klasinski is by far the best dentist I’ve seen in my decades of dental work. The staff was warm and friendly and I was greeted by a happy dog as well as a very sincere welcome from Dr. Klasinski when I entered the office. I have had bad Experiences at past dental offices. Dr. Klasinski talked to me about any concerns I had and really listened. I could see the effort she and her staff made to try to eliminate things that made me uncomfortable. One of those is that some doctors seem to only suction once or twice during a session. I don’t know if that’s normal or not but I didn’t have to hold my jaw open for 10 minutes at a time with excess fluids in my mouth making me nauseous. I normally have a very sore jaw after going to the dentist because of my TMJ. Dr. Klasinski was so efficient that I only had my mouth open for short periods and everything suctioned very quickly and thoroughly. Boy was that a huge relief!I’ve never had such a positive experience at a dentist. There was absolutely no pain With the administration of the anesthesia. I couldn’t believe it. Usually there’s at least pinching or pressure or burning, but there was nothing and she really did it so slowly And precisely that it wasn’t only painless, but she seem to know the exact amount I needed. I’ve had my face be entirely numb for like a day with some dentists and other dentists not use nearly enough and could feel all of this stuff happening to me.I was really impressed at how my appointment was a high priority! I’ve had dentists come in and put the numbing gel on my gums and then not come back for 15 minutes and I can hear them in with the next patient. Dr. Klasinski made me feel like a huge priority and was with me 95% of the time and my appointment went by so fast I couldn’t believe we were done.I know that dental health is so important for your heart health and general well-being. I will definitely be back to see Dr. Klasinski and make going to the dentist a more regular priority as I do with my other health issues.Dr. Klasinski has completely turned my views around about going to the dentist. I would say she’s not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, but she’s also very compassionate, caring and friendly. I felt as if I was visiting a very beloved family member and as if I was one of hers.A big thank you to Dr. Klasinski and her staff for fixing my broken tooth and making it a very pleasant and quick experience.
