Dr. Klasinski visits 1st grade class to speak on dental health
How do you ensure a lifelong habit of good dental hygiene? Start teaching children at a young age the importance of dental health. Dr. Sara Klasinksi had the opportunity to do just that then when she visited the i4 Learning Community School during National Children’s Dental Health Month in February.
KEWASKUM – Students at the i4Learning Community School recently learned more about the importance of dental hygiene and overall good health with the help of Kewaskum Family Dentistry representatives. February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, so this information aligned with a larger initiative to increase awareness and bring together educators, industry professionals, children and their caregivers.
i4Learning elementary school is organized not by traditional grades but by cohorts of students with similar educational understanding. Principal Jacob Flood said the presenters prepared two separate interactive experiences for the children. “Students in our K-2 cohort received education on good dental hygiene and the importance of dental health,” Flood said. “Our students in the three to five cohort had a more in-depth explanation on the topic.”
The older students also had a lesson on the structural makeup of teeth and gums.
“It was a great and informative day of learning,” Flood said. “We were appreciative to have the opportunity to partner with part of the Kewaskum community to help our students learn about dental health.”
“We feel fortunate in the sense that we frequently have businesses and individuals that are willing to visit and share their area of expertise with our students,” Flood said.
The Kewaskum School District also has Kewaskum Elementary School and Farmington Elementary school, the latter where Flood is also the principal.
Dr. Klasinski’s visit to the school was originally featured in an article in the Daily News.
